Park-like cemetery location

Located at 11900 S. Kedzie Avenue, our peaceful, park-like cemetery accommodates a range of burial choices. Whether your preference is entombment or interment, we have an option that reflects your family’s culture, traditions and budget. Traditional in-ground burials can be memorialized with flat grave markers or upright monuments. Both indoor and outdoor mausoleum spaces are available.

History

Oak Hill Cemetery was incorporated in January 1902 by a group of men of Swedish descent. They established the cemetery to serve Swedish families on the south side of Chicago. Our cemetery was dedicated on Oct. 19, 1902. The first burial took place just a few days later on Oct. 26, 1902.

Cemetery features, amenities

Designed by architect Conny Ramberg, Oak Hill Cemetery Chapel-Mausoleum was built by E.P. Strandberg Co. in 1921. The chapel was dedicated in May of the following year.

The building itself is impressive with stained-glass windows, huge pillars, marble interior, crypts and niches, but it is the sentiment on the granite above the door that shares the message the association wanted to express: "May this temple ever proclaim liberty in religion. The existence of an omnipresent God, the immortality of the soul."

Today, Oak Hill Cemetery is a member of the Dignity Memorial^® network, the largest group of funeral, burial, cremation and cemetery service providers in North America.
